Week 2: Whakawhanaungatanga

Seek to have all three in alignment Whakawhanaungatanga Each person shared the story of who they are and what journey brought them to Leading Change to Good. We heard about: winding, indirect journeys strength forged through life experience and adversity whakapapa shaping who we are today difficulty with traditional learning models loving, inspirational, supportive whānau My reflections What an incredible way to open the course, allowing us to get to know each other and to discover to many cross-overs and connections within our group.  We were open and vulnerable in a way that normally wouldn’t come for weeks of knowing people. I’ve experienced this in LNZ and SC Adaptive Leadership. I’m pleasantly surprised to know it has a place in formal education settings too. Loved it! Week 1: Leading change for good

Leading change for good Video - Dr Ramon Pink, Canterbury Medical Officer Simple things that make us feel good and are most important to us My reflections Connect – I get energy from connection with other people, at home and at work. In some situations, I’m the social connector, in others I stay on the periphery. I’m immersed in people connection at work; maybe that influences my choice to opt in or out? Give – quality time is one of my love languages, I regard time as a gift to give or receive. I’m aware I don’t give enough time to my community; I’m more focused on people I know well. Learn – I’m motivated by learning, by challenge. It’s a big part of why I’m doing this programme. Taking notice – I’ve become aware over the last couple of years how easy it is not to be present – when my kids are talking to me for example. When I’m feeling stressed or anxious, I use breathing (e.g. mindful minute) and simple mindfulness (e.g. five sounds) exercises to bring me keep me in the moment....
